This is the first of a series of threads on battle tactics, which, in my opinion, should be published together after edits and reviews, as a Warfare Manual (just as Xeno Field Manual of the SA) for pilots and freelancers of Sirius and Altair.

As the name suggests my intention is to invite our veteran pilots to share their experiences in dealing with the grave threat, which a Battleship poses. After recommendation from one of our beloved rats, =BGP=_Monkey* (dildo), I invite particularly strongly Dino, who, citation from Monkey, "knows how to kill a BS".

Best tactics, recommended fighters, recommended weapon configs and on the other hand - the worst tactics, fighters that fail in confrontation with a BS and what makes them fail, weapons that won't work vs Battleship - all of it goes right into this thread.

From my own experience, I'll play the Captain Obvious card: MOVE FAST AND ERRATIC, WATCH OUT FOR TURRET FIRE!

And my own questions to vets: tough or agile - Cossac or Lagg? Also: guns vs missiles* vs torpedoes*.

*Battleship Shield Bug prevents any damage from missiles, even EMPs, while the shield is up, rendering missiles-only builds totally ineffective.

Also: SA/CFPD/UR DB recommends the Elder VHF as a nice anti-capital fighter/bomber. Truth or false? How does it's forward cannon fare against Battleships? Isn't level 9 shield a big con?

Hm, it's hard to explain..
But, it's like this: Take 2k distance.. Start shooting at him.. 2 shots, evade.. 2 shots, evade.. when you come 200m from BS, turn, and RUUUUUN ;p
Repeat it 100 times and BS is dead..
If you have BS, i can show you.

KD - use strafe for evading.. but with 9 rhein and 2 kusari, it can kick any BS.

And bombers dont exsist here.. On Disco, there are bombers, with bomber cannons and SNACs( cannon with low refire and speed but 100k damage ).
But best imitation of bomber would be this:
Redemption with 2 warsys, 2 DKAs and 2 diamondbacks.. ofc, + some torps.

The Elder and Hades is pretty much useless for this kind of work at the moment.....but OP claims he have fixed this bug so we will see if that works in in 1.9.

And you can't aim with the Elder front gun so make sure your target is right in front of you tongue and that forward gun does about 2000 damage or something....i dont rely remember....the SA should have the stats on that ship.

My best advise for BS killing is to fly in spirals around the BS while bumping into it and shooting.

Lagg/Sarceren is the 2 most famous ships for BS killing but that Persphone should get the job done too... study

The best strategy is to have 2-3 pepole doing this offc.... Cool

The best way to kick a BS is to get in your small, pretty and verry dangerous BS killer (aka. Kusari Destroyer armed 8 Rheiland and 3 Kusari turrets), hit cruise speed (shift+W), put somedistance turn around hit EK, start hammering it with your 3 Kusari turrets from 2k distance, don't forget to strafe when you enter in his firing range and hit it with everyting you have. It works perfectly against 2-3 BSs or combination of BS and DS.

It's not that easy Sad strafing kills speed gained from cruise and EK and BSs deal heavy damage on KD.

I expect functional bombers Wink

I wonder now if 11 Adv. Defense Turrets wouldn't be better - you could always stop 2k from bs, turn around, enter turret view, hammer him and just enter cruise if he's getting closer.

You can do same thing with Kusari turrets. They have 2k range and 2 barrels.
